Tammy Norton is our Spotlight member for this week!! She is one of the most positive people we've ever met and we love having her in the 5:30am class! She has been with us since the July BobBarker Challenge. Read about her reasons and results of pressing reset and her take on why everyone should be doing the same! Congratulations Tammy, you rock!
Tell us a random fact about you no one would know! I was a welder at the nuclear plant in New Hill in the early eighties.
How did you hear about/what made you decide to try OSi? Bob Barker Company held the Healthy Happy Human Challenge where I was able to attend OSi for 6 weeks and was immediately hooked!
When you hear “OSi” what is the first thing that comes to mind? When I hear OSi I think of strength – at any age!
How have your friends/family reacted to original strength movements/supported you on your journey? Everyone is so interested. I have friends and family who signed up and more who have not signed yet that are really wanting to join us! My father has Parkinson’s, and I have him pressing reset and crawling. It’s great!
What is the funniest reaction you’ve received when people have heard about your resets/exercises here? A few have thought I was crazy! Then I begin my sales pitch -
Have you noticed anything in everyday life that is easier to do or you are able to do better? Oh yes, I have much more strength and stamina. I am able to lift, move furniture, trim shrubs and never feel the painful after effects!
What is your favorite thing to do at OSi and Why? I love the group workouts and the encouragement from others. I feel a part of a team.
What about OSI made you stick to your workout game plan? I attend the 5:30am workouts and sometimes it’s hard to get up and out. Having my dear friend and neighbor Penny Wiard come with me keeps me on track!
What is your proudest achievement/next big goal at OSi? I was on the winning team for the Healthy Happy Human Challenge and was pretty proud to be on that team. I love it when I’m able to do an exercise that killed me a couple of weeks ago without any painful after effects. I know I’m getting stronger!
What is something you would say to your first week of OSi self to encourage/help them? Don’t be afraid, stay focused, hang in there, it’s going to get easier, you can do it! You will be amazed at the difference you will see in just 2-3 weeks!
If you are interested in joining us at OSI we have a couple options including; one on one training, group training, and a $29 2 week trial. For more information about OSI or to register for classes, check out http://www.originalstrengthinstitute.com.
Exercise.com is wonderful! I cannot say enough good things about it! Nicole, my trainer has done so much for me. I thought I would never be able to work out again because of my back issues. Thanks to Nicole, I am able to work out while she is constantly watching, making sure I have proper form and never harming my back. I have lost 15 pounds, and have become leaner and stronger, thanks to the healthy meal plan they designed for me. The great thing is I am able to enjoy eating without going hungry on the meal plan. Ashley, the owner, Nicole, Marjorie, and the rest of the staff are so kind, caring, and knowledgeable.
All the staff members really care about whether or not you meet your fitness goals. They will work with you and support you.
I always thought being active meant as long as you're out of your home doing something physical then it meant you were keeping in shape. But really, being active can take on any meaning depending on who you are. For me, I found my active lifestyle with CrossFit.
I had no idea what that word meant or what it entailed. And so I took it upon myself to try several different gyms, or boxes, as we call them. Most boxes out there offered a free first class. How great! Boy, what a roller coaster of disappointment. Yes, each time I was explained what the class would be doing. Yes, they challenged me mentally and physically. But that free first class always ended up with someone wanting my verbal and written confirmation that I would be choosing their box right here right now. No one wants to feel pressured into doing something they've never done before. That's exactly how I felt. And so, after a friend referred me to WildFire CrossFit, I thought, I'm really not sure. One more attempt to see if this is really what I wanted.
Bri Maynes Rack Positionv2First thing that comes to mind is I love WildFire CrossFit! My home away from home. I have felt the passion and desire from these amazing coaches since day one. They coach with determination and motivation. They make lasting impressions on all athletes. I have been challenged in such a positive way that I just can't get enough. I'm tested every day I set foot in that gym. There are no limits for me. The relationships I have with the coaches and my fellow athletes are not anything I could create anywhere else. When I am going my hardest during a workout and I hear my name and cheers for me to keep going I don't want to disappoint. I love that everyone at WildFire CrossFit is a team supporter and player. We push ourselves to the limit and it's okay. It's okay to set goals, reach them, and set new ones.
There are so many proud moments I have achieved at WildFire CrossFit. Too many to list but the list is never-ending. There is always room for improvement. Never did I think I could do double unders, kipping pull-ups, flip tires or a handstand hold. I love adding to my achievements and doing it in a place where I love the great community.
WildFire Crossfit is not just another gym. Not just another box. At WildFire CrossFit you are part of a community that wants you to be who you deserve to be and teaches you so much about yourself. Thank you Skip and Tiffany for being amazing and creating this Rockstar community. Fuel The Fire!!
